Hoss at A1 was amazing. We were traveling thru town when our check engine light started flashing and the engine started shaking. We pulled up to A1 a few minutes before they closed on a Saturday. Hoss stopped what was doing and spent the next 1.5 hours getting our engine repaired and getting us back on the road!

The best auto mechanic in California! My story with this place started when the window on my car door came off its track — and the owner of this shop managed to fix it quickly, simply, and without charging me anything unnecessary. While on a road trip, I had to stop by several auto shops, and most of them were focused only on making money — replacing parts for even the smallest issues and charging outrageous prices. But the owner of this shop is a true professional — experienced, skilled, and genuinely honest. Two years later, I still remember him fondly. I had a Prius with a right rear door that wouldn’t open because the handle mechanism was jammed. Every other shop told me the only solution was to replace the entire door, but this man knew better. He carefully opened it from the inside, adjusted the lock and handle, and fixed the problem completely. He could have easily charged me hundreds of dollars for a door replacement, but instead, he chose honesty and craftsmanship. On top of that, his friendly attitude and genuine conversation made a lasting impression on me — he’s truly someone I’ll remember for many years. Excellent service. On the two occasions that I've been here the mechanic has been friendly, accommodating, hard-working and really goes the extra mile to get the job done well. The rates are also extremely reasonable/affordable. I was expecting a much higher price for all the work he did. Will be taking my car here for future repairs for as long as I'm living in Santa Barbara! Thank you!

Such a wonderful mechanic!!! Honest and trustworthy!!!! Rates are affordable and very on time with when your car will be ready, it's so wonderful to have this kind of mechanic in our community. He breaks his back to make sure you can afford his services. hoss is amazing and so is his son! Will totally be coming back to this shop for more work on my Subaru

We experienced some unexpected car troubles on a road trip, and everyone at A-1 was extremely helpful. They were transparent, honest, kind, and quick in their assessment. They took the time to show us what was wrong and looked at multiple stores to try to find the part needed even though it was late in the day. If we lived in the area, we would absolutely go back to them for all of our car maintenance. Highly recommend!
