I hired Scroggins Machine Shop to build a full 408 long block comparable to the “Iron Animal” setup from Texas Speed. This was my first built engine, and based on my initial conversations with Joe, I was told they could build something equal or better for the same or less money. I trusted them with my project. The comparable setup was around $10–11k, but my total with Scroggins ended up being over $15k. From the beginning, problems started. When I first got the car back, it would not start. Multiple experienced people confirmed the camshaft appeared to be degreed incorrectly. After repeated troubleshooting, the intake manifold exploded during a startup attempt. Instead of taking responsibility, the shop blamed me and charged me for related repairs. They then refused to continue helping unless I used their preferred tuner. I had already scheduled my own experienced tuner but was forced to cancel. I was told Jason would tune my car, but instead a shop employee did the tune without prior notice. The resulting tune maxed out my fuel system in the high-300 WHP range, forcing me to purchase unnecessary fuel system upgrades, even though my system was already properly sized for my all-

These guys went above and beyond to help me with getting my heads redone. The full job was completed in a timely manner, and I was very impressed with how clean and new looking my heads were, pretty amazing stuff they do here. I haven’t installed them yet, but I’ll update this post when completed thanks again guys!! Also Bobby is great at what he does. He helped with every single question i threw at him.. Thanks Bobby! Brought them a VW 20VT block and cylinder head for a high performance build. Very knowledgeable people and work is top notch. Highly recommended for your engine build needs. Just an update: After slow progress by me for the last year, the car is up and running and it rips. Once again want to say thank you to Scroggins for their part of the engine build.

The guys at Scroggins are amazing. They have built two fully forged 600+ hp LS3’s for me. Very knowledgeable with incredible turn around time. I will not use any other machine shop in the area. There’s a reason I make a 3 hr trip for their work.

Great machine shop. My 300ZX heads went In for the full 9 yards. Paid a hefty price more than we talked about but I ain’t got time to bicker back and fourth. Quality of work reflected on price so I wasn’t upset. They did a great job making my VG30DETT heads looking like it just came off the factory. After needing parts, Bob was able to get me in touch with their parts supplier. Turn around was approximately 4 weeks or so after couple miscommunications. This type of work is what I expect from a proper machine shop and they were spot on. My ratings goes as 4-stars: expected . 5-stars: expectations exceeded. So there’s your latest and unbiased review of: SCROGGINS MACHINE Ps. Love the little notes placed around the lobby that could send snowflake into full meltdown 😂
