I’m not from Santa Barbara and unfortunately broke down while passing through, so I had no choice but to use this shop. My car had a cracked radiator, and Kevin quoted me a price that was significantly higher than what I later found to be the typical market rate. Because I was stranded in another city, I felt pressured into approving the repair. What was most frustrating is that I was repeatedly told that replacing the radiator would solve the problem and get me back on the road. After spending nearly $1,000 on the repair, I was then informed that the car was still overheating and that it might need a water pump, pulley, or tensioner as well. Had I been told from the beginning that the vehicle might still be undrivable after the radiator replacement, I would have made a different decision and had the car transported back to Los Angeles instead. The staff was polite, but I left feeling that the diagnosis was incomplete, the pricing was excessive, and the situation was not communicated honestly or transparently. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend this shop to anyone who is stranded and relying on accurate information to make repair decis

Needed a smog. Passed the smog no problems. Had a coupon. $48.25 out the door. Took about 15min. Fast, clean, professional, easy to find, easy to park. My first experience there. I'd go back. I'd recommend it.

Claim to be STAR certified on the website but then when you take your car to them in person they send you off with a "find someone else" because they actually are not STAR certified. False advertising and bad customer service with a very passive aggressive way to tell a customer to leave. Went to an amazing place around the corner called Smog-It, took them 5 minutes to smog my car and I didn't even have an appointment. Save your money and time and pay an extra 20$ to get your services done from an honorable, real mechanic. Will not return for any services from here.

I had a deep scratch along the length of my car and was just passing through, so I didn’t have much time. By chance, I came across StarTech Auto Repair, where I was welcomed by Kevin. Even though he and his team were busy working, he took the time to address the scratch. The result was far better than I expected. Truly excellent. Kevin is solution-oriented, helpful, friendly, professional, and reliable. Highly recommended!

I have been bringing fleet vehicles to Kevin at star tech for years for their smog tests, and receiving fast and great service. But also bring my personal cars and my families cars for any reason at all. My 1980 Datsun 280Z project car got a lot of assistance from Star Tech. I also have had my 1953 Dodge truck and my wife's Lexus, as well as my 2000 Mercedes that I had help getting out of salvage title status from Kevin. They have great knowledge and do excellent work. Cannot recommend enough!
