Walter and the team are such sweethearts! Very communicative, straightforward, and thoughtful. When I came in for a routine oil change, they spotted an issue from a previous shop’s botch job and kept me in the loop every step of the way. Since my car was kept longer than expected, they even had it washed for me. Most of the team has been here for many years (including Max, Walter’s sidekick bird). If you are looking for a friendly and honest shop to take your car to in San Jose, this is it.

Need smog test? This place is the 1st one I recommend. I newly moved from TX and need smog certificate for vehicle registration. I found this place due to the reasonable price. The whole process went through a professional and fast way. It's always enjoyable to work with the friendly crews.

It’s easy to see why W.E. Harding Co. maintains such an impressive reputation. After discovering a great deal on Groupon and reading numerous glowing reviews, I decided to visit them for my annual smog check. The experience exceeded my expectations from start to finish. I was able to secure a same-day appointment within 30 minutes of calling. Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted by a friendly team member, followed by a warm welcome from Mr. Harding himself and his professional office staff. The service was remarkably efficient. Mr. Harding personally handled my intake, while Verek—a long-time, dedicated employee—performed the smog test. It was reassuring to see such low staff turnover, which speaks volumes about the company's culture. Verek completed the work in under 10 minutes and even took the extra step of checking my tire pressure to ensure my vehicle was safe for the road. To conclude the visit, Mr. Harding presented me with a thoughtful 2026 planner and pen as a complimentary gift. The combination of expert skill and genuine hospitality has made me a loyal customer. I have certainly found my go-to mechanic shop and highly recommend their services!

Very happy with my service here. Quick and friendly check in process. I arrived for a smog check without an appointment. Good value and A star verified. So much happier with the service here than other places in town I've been. Easy 5 stars, would come back again. Also, Max the parrot was a delightful surprise, and quite cordial

Walter provided exceptional service from start to finish. He was incredibly kind, welcoming, and professional throughout the entire process. You can truly tell he cares about his customers and takes pride in doing honest, quality work. His shop also had a very friendly atmosphere, and even his bird was adorable and added a nice personal touch. Walter went above and beyond by even giving me a few small gifts to take home, which was greatly appreciated. I highly recommend Walter to anyone needing a smog check or any car-related service. He is a trustworthy, genuine person who clearly values integrity in his work. I will absolutely be returning in the future and will be referring friends and family his way.
