I was quoted $4500. For a 383 stroker sbc using my studded block with scat rotating assembly and hyper eutectic pistons and flotek heads. They couldn't get the scat rotating assembly so I went and bought new eagle crank and rods with wiseco pistons and new brodix heads. They inspected my roller cam and lifters and said they were good to use. Cms supplied the oil pump and freeze plugs. When I picked up the long block I was charged around $3000. Labor. I got the motor put in my truck and upon start up and adjusting timing, idle etc. The water was full and temp was opening the thermostat so I put the radiator cap on. In just a minute or two water was dripping from all under motor and I found all of the head studs I could see were seeping water. I asked for compensation for pulling the motor and fixing the issue. I was told the heads did not need to come back off just pull the studs and put thread sealer on them. I don't have faith to do that to my brand new motor. I want it right. City motor supply offered me a new set of head gaskets for my troubles. I used them many times years ago and they were crazy busy back then and they are dead these days and I completely understand why.

Got my son's motor from you guys and after getting it installed the lifters were messed up! Cost $400. to try to get those fixed by a mechanic. 2 Days later same problem. Called City motors and they said the best they could do is give us some lifters and a gasket. And now to have those put in is going to cost another 800 plus dollars. So total $1,200+ dollars. He was told that they weren't going to pay the mechanic because they had outside people build that motor which was a rebuild. I'll see them tomorrow and hopefully can talk to the owner to see how we can be compensated for this mess. (That's not even counting all the days the truck is down!) Not happy!!

City Motor Supply did excellent work on my LBZ cylinder head. Very satisfied with their professionalism, quality of work, and pricing. Update: I assembled the heads myself, and the issue was resolved. The shop’s precise machining played a key part in making the fix possible. Quality work. I'll upload before and after.

Most Recent: engine was taken care of this time and shipped properly. Just dropped into car, will see if it runs well soon. (3/5) Stars **This review will be updated upon arrival of new engine, currently returning this engine. Previous update: (1/5 stars) Terrible shipping procedures, this motor was not shipped properly and was not properly put into a shipping container from the supplier. Im sure the frieght company did some things wrong too but it should be the suppliers duty to properly wrap the package from its facility. Also arrived 3 weeks late. However that was not what made me upset, i rather have it here later and done right than have it here early and done wrong. I got neither!

Great knowledgeable bunch of people. This was my first rebuild and City motors was recommended by another shop to weld my crank so I used them to check and hone my block and do a valve job. I asked a lot of questions and John was really patient explaining everything to me. The engine looked brand new when I got it back, I followed all their advice for the assembly and break in and 1,000 miles later I've had no issues. I'll definitely use them again.
