I needed a Star Smog check for my 2011 Honda Accord registration. Since I showed up on a busy day, I had to wait about 25 minutes behind a couple of other cars. To my surprise, my car actually failed the inspection! This was quite a shock because I had just taken it to an auto shop in Union City for maintenance beforehand (a whole other story). Brian, the technician who handled the smog check, explained that my air intake hose was cracked due to old age. Even though it failed and I paid for the service, Brian let me know I had 90 days to replace the part and return for a free retest. I got the hose replaced the very next day and brought the car right back. The second round was super fast, taking only 10 to 15 minutes, and Brian confirmed that it passed! I just had to pay an additional $8 CA fee. Overall, the service was incredibly fast, the customer service was fantastic, and the price was a super affordable $51 for the smog check. While prices might vary depending on your vehicle, that's an absolute steal for the Bay Area! The next day, I got it replaced and took it back to get it Smog again. It was very quick about 10 to 15 mins and Brian told me my car pass the test. I did have

Fremont Smog Only is my go-to smog test place. As an owner of many older cars, I bring all of my vehicles here and have always had a great experience. They get you in and out quickly — usually 20 minutes tops if there’s no wait. The team is very kind, knowledgeable, and straightforward. No nonsense, no upselling, just honest and efficient service. It’s hard to find a no-nonsense, honest shop like this these days, and I’m really happy I found this place. Highly recommended — and they’re open on Sundays, which is a huge plus!
