As someone who knows absolutely nothing about cars, I had to assume that everything the mechanic, John, was telling me about my “in critical condition” car, was true. I paid $85 for a diagnostic which took 2 DAYS only to find out that there was a coolant leakage in my car that required either a repair on the head gasket for $5100 or a replacement for $7500. Both astronomically high for a beat up 2006 Toyota Prius that’s on its way out. After looking at previous reviews on this shop I decided to take the car to a Hybrid specific auto body shop to get a second opinion. As you can imagine, University Tire & Auto was not too pleased. When I took the car over to the next shop, the mechanic ran a test that took about 30 minutes free of charge and did it right in front of me explaining every step. Although I still didn’t understand what he was saying, the end result was clear that my car was fine and it was just over heated breaks considering there were no check engine lights on my dashboard to indicate otherwise. I needed a wheel alignment on my van. The shop provided a printout with the alignment details, and they also performed a vehicle inspection, something I initially declined but appreciated afterward for the thoroughness of the report and photos. After the visit, they sent a link with a full breakdown of what was inspected and what should be addressed. The staff was friendly, and the whole visit took just over an hour. I highly recommend.

*Details Included* My first experience with University Tire & Auto Service was superb from start to finish. For starters, when I first called, John was patient and provided clear information, without the rushed tone many service providers carry. I made an appointment for an oil change and for a flat tire (despite having more that technically needs fixing). They have a great system in place, one that is worth mentioning for its clarity and transparency. Upon their analysis, they will share a full list of all items they have identified, and will include photos and the "gravity" of the items in several categories, including minor fixes. They will then proceed with a detailed quote for each item, which you can easily choose to approve or decline. This alone makes the process clear and seamless. Another thing I valued was the lack of bureaucracy and minimal data gathering. Regarding the service itself, they showed me one of the items they were referring to, explaining the reasoning behind their diagnosis - as this was one of those trickier ones. Wanted to give a big thank you to John and his staff on repairs to my daughters car. Living in in Ohio I got the dreaded car on the fritz phone call. 2 different repair shops with no success but lots of let's start replacing parts stories with no clear path. I made some phone calls to repair shops and spoke with John. I was impressed with his demeanor and confidence in his staff. Car taken there and work started on a Sunday! My daughter received the most complete work order I have ever seen with screen shots,pictures, and technician explanation of problem with clear diagnostics.long story short sensors replaced, check engine light off, car smogged, and from clear pictures of dirty fluids and filters car serviced and working properly. Also a heart felt conversation with John if this was his daughter's car what would he do? We have a clear plan for future work which will allow my daughter to budget and save to hopefully keep a 13 year old car on the road awhile longer. We have found a repair shop that does good work, honest, and fair pricing. God Bless and a deep thank you from a grateful Father who lives far away
